20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Sarah Liporace of Rotterdam
Sarah is a woman of remarkable range dedicating her professional life to nurturing communication in young children, while pouring her evenings, weekends, and days off into one of the most expansive volunteer commitments in the Capital Region.
As a tenured Speech Language Pathologist with more than a decade of service at her current school, Sarah brings patience, expertise, and genuine care to the children she works with daily. This school year, she added union treasurer and scholarship fundraiser planning committee member to her professional responsibilities demonstrating the same instinct for community building within her workplace that defines her broader volunteer work.
That broader work is nothing short of extraordinary. Since attending her first Relay For Life event in 2009, an experience that transformed her perspective on fundraising entirely Sarah has become an indispensable force within the American Cancer Society at every level: local, state, and national.
Locally, she serves as a lead for the Albany Relay For Life Event Leadership Team, contributes to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of the Adirondacks committee, and volunteers at signature events throughout the year. Her warmth, organizational talent, and creative graphic design skills make her a visible and valued presence at every event she touches. Her dedication was recently recognized with the prestigious Spirit of Relay award.
At the state level, she travels to Relay events across New York to exchange ideas and strengthen programs. Nationally, she served for more than four years double the traditional term as the Northeast Region volunteer lead, helping restructure regional volunteerism from Maine to Washington, D.C., and now serves on a national awards and recognition committee.
Sarah does not simply support the fight against cancer. She helps lead it with a smile, boundless energy, and an unshakeable belief in the difference one person can make.
