Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve has been temporarily shut down
Update 5:58pm: NewsChannel 13 reports an 82 year old Clifton Park man was walking his dog at the Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve when he was attacked by the wild animal. It is believed the coyote is indeed rabid. Tom Fitzpatrick is recovering after he was bitten during the attack Wednesday evening. The Preserve remains closed while wildlife officials try to capture the animal.
Clifton Park officials have announced the temporary closure of the Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve following multiple reports of an aggressive coyote in the area over the past two days.
Clifton Park Animal Control is working closely with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Environmental Conservation to assess the situation and ensure public safety. Residents and visitors are strongly advised to avoid the preserve and surrounding trails until further notice.
Authorities remind the public to remain cautious and report any additional sightings. Coyotes are typically shy around humans, but aggressive behavior can indicate illness or territorial instincts.
