20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Jody Dayter of Burnt Hills
In 2017, Jody’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, later receiving a more specific diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia. Jody chose to become her mother's full-time caregiver, making precious memories together through activities like walking, dancing, and spending quality time with loved ones. Though the journey was challenging, the experience brought them closer. After her mother passed in August 2022, Jody felt called to shift her life’s direction and make an impact on others by volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association, Northeastern New York Chapter.
Volunteering has been healing for Jody, helping her through her grief while honoring her mother’s legacy. Her work has allowed her to connect with others facing similar struggles, giving her a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. Jody has participated in local events like Saratoga Pride and the "I Am Father Fest" in Schenectady, as well as the 2024 Albany Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Holding the purple flower at the walk, symbolizing those who have lost loved ones to Alzheimer’s, was a deeply emotional moment that led her to volunteer for the first-ever Troy Walk, where she joined the committee to help it grow.
Additionally, Jody shared her caregiving journey through music, collaborating with a professional songwriter for a performance at Caffe Lena’s TrueSongs Celebration which can be watched below. She is now committed to educating, supporting, and advocating for dementia caregivers, ensuring they know they are not alone.
