What we know so far.
Police and fire crews were called to the Albany Department of General Services on Richard Connors Blvd shortly after 3pm on Tuesday. The Times Union reports a gas pump exploded, injuring two people. One, a city worker, was taken to Albany Med. The other was a firefighter who was taken by helicopter to the burn unit at Westchester Medical Center, his condition is reported to be serious.
News 10 reports a very heavy police and firefighter presence in the area, Richard Connors Blvd is currently closed in the area. No official word yet on the cause of the explosion.
