Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Sandra Olson of Albany
Since 2015, affectionately known as "Miss Sandra," this retired teacher has been the driving force behind the South End Children’s Cafe's exceptional homework program. Devoting eight years to the cafe, Sandra initiated and led a team of retired teachers, providing daily one-on-one homework assistance for children aged 5 to 14. With unwavering dedication, she has volunteered thousands of hours, profoundly impacting the academic success of numerous children. Beyond homework help, Sandra extends her generosity by chaperoning field trips, purchasing gifts for special occasions, attending graduations, and actively participating in events outside her volunteering role. Her exceptional contributions make the homework program outstanding, and her heart of gold has left an enduring mark on the lives of countless children and families at the Children's Cafe. Additionally, Sandra extends her kindness to volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House.
