Strong winds, quarter sized hail possible
A few pop up storms have already come to fruition on Thursday and more are possible. The National Weather Service has placed eastern New York and a good portion of New England under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9pm.

In addition to heavy downpours, strong winds and hail are also possible Thursday afternoon. This coincides with a heatwave covering most of New York State where temperatures are expected to hit 90 in some areas, with the heat index (real feel) nearing 100.
