After a long 50 year run, the Purple Pub in Watervliet officially closed its doors this past weekend. The owners, Butch and Greg Rentz closed the dining room portion of the restaurant in December, but until recently continued to serve takeout orders. The duo are now enjoying retirement.
Only a few short days after closing, Steve Barnes from the Times Union reports new owners have taken over the restaurant and plan to have it operating in a few weeks - with a new name.
Trestle Restaurant & Pub is expected to open for pizza take-out orders within two weeks, while the dining room is expected to open in about a month. The new owners, Chris Richards and John Holland, also operate The Cobblestone Lunch Shoppe in downtown Albany.
Once the restaurant opens, hours are expected to be 11am to 10pm daily.
