A storm moving up the east coast this weekend is expected to bring torrential rain and strong winds to the Capital Region Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Sunday into Monday, where as much as 2 inches of rain could fall in the Capital Region, while areas of the Catskills could see as much as 3 inches of rain.
The amount of precipitation makes flooding likely in certain areas. Meteorologists also say wind gusts could get up around 35 mph.
Just a side note, according to sciencing.com, one inch of rain = 10 inches of snow. If the temperature were to drop below freezing, we'd be dealing with quite the snow storm. Luckily, temps are expected to hover in the high 40's and low 50's.
A beautiful start to the weekend will give way to a wet start to the week as a storm system threatens widespread moderate to heavy rain Sunday afternoon through Monday evening. Currently, rainfall looks to range from 1-3" with higher amounts possible in the Eastern Catskills. pic.twitter.com/evY1ABtHQw
