20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Elizabeth Grebe of Schuylerville
Liz's career in emergency services began during high school and college, where she volunteered as a firefighter/lieutenant and EMT with Vischer Ferry VFD for 7 years. She holds Associates Degrees in Fire Science and Paramedicine from Schenectady CC and Hudson Valley CC. Liz went on to join the Saratoga Springs Fire Department over 10 years ago, becoming the sole woman on the team at the time. She was later promoted to Lieutenant.
In addition to her work with the fire department, Liz has been a volunteer with New York State Task Force 2 for over 12 years, serving as a Technical Search Specialist, Rescue Specialist, and Logistics Specialist during complex emergencies across the state. Liz also volunteers with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit that builds and delivers beds and bedding to children facing childhood bedlessness. She sees this issue firsthand while on ambulance and fire calls, and SHP’s mission deeply resonates with her. Liz is actively involved in sourcing donations, speaking to community groups, and hands-on construction of beds for families in need.
Through her work and volunteer efforts, Liz demonstrates her strength, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to helping others, making her a role model and an outstanding leader in her community.
