Shen won the first meeting back in January.

M&T Bank Arena in Schenectady is set to host their first Sectional Championship on Monday.

The championship pits Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa and Shenendehowa.

Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa came back to defeat the Adirondack Rivermen in the semifinals on Wednesday, 4-2.  Down 1-0, Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa was granted a penalty shot in the second period to tie the game up.  Then three goals, two 1:10 apart, in the third period propelled Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa to the Championship.  Dayton Deutsch was credited with the 3rd goal, which would be the game-winning goal.  Cameron Olsen, Vincent Rossetti and Tim Moynihan also netted goals in the win.

Kasch Kinowski stopped 29 shots for Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa.

Shenendehowa held off Saratoga Springs to win 3-2 in their semifinal.  Jake Lapage, Jackson Vener and Justin Dooley scored goals for Shenendehowa, with the third coming shorthanded in the third period.  Saratoga would come back with two goals to pull within one, but could not get the equalizer.  Brendan Westrick stopped 32 shots for Shenendehowa.

In the only meeting between the two finalists back on January 31st, Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa took a 2-1 lead on Cameron Olsen's second tally of the game, before Shenendehowa would score four unanswered, including two empty netters in the final minute, to win 5-2.  Justin Dooley scored the go-ahead goal with about 9:35 left in the third period.

It is the first championship to be held at the new M&T Bank Arena in Schenectady.  Right on the Mohawk River, the arena replaces the old Union College hockey arena that had previously hosted the Sectional Championships.

The sectional championship is set for 7:00pm.
