With the new year always comes new laws that begin in 2024. Here are five changes you can expect.
- If you currently make the state hourly minimum wage of $14.20 an hour, you'll be getting an increase. Minimum wage will go up 80 cents to an even $15 an hour.
- Public schools get an extra holiday to commemorate Lunar New Year. The exact day floats year to year, but usually falls in January or February. In 2024, Lunar New Year falls on a Saturday, February 10th.
- Wanna be a lifeguard? The state has lowered the required age to 15 for pools, beaches and summer camps.
- Employers will be prohibited from requiring or requesting employees social media credentials.
- Colleges will be required to post crime statistics relating to their respective campus on their website.
