20 Outstanding Women!

We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,

Taylor Huntley of Troy

Taylor Huntley was just 30 years old when she took the reins of the Albany Therapeutic Riding Center and what she has built since is nothing short of remarkable. Armed with a dual degree from Wilson College in Therapeutic Riding and Business, Taylor inherited a program that had been dormant for years following the passing of its founder. Rather than be daunted by the challenge, she got to work from the ground up, with her hands in the dirt and her vision firmly set on the future.

Under her leadership, ATRC has grown from serving five individuals per week on a small patch of grass to a permanent ten-acre facility serving nearly 100 clients weekly. Taylor secured funding to purchase and develop a premier property complete with stables and an indoor riding area, grew the horse herd from just a few animals to seven, and expanded programming to include a Special Olympics of New York Equestrian Team. Her dual expertise in therapy and business has allowed her to build something both meaningful and sustainable.

In November 2024, a devastating barn fire tested everything Taylor had built. She responded with extraordinary strength keeping programming running, ensuring the safety of every horse and participant, spearheading fundraising efforts, and launching a community learning series that brought education and inspiration to the wider Capital District equestrian community. ATRC emerged from the crisis stronger than before.

Day to day, Taylor teaches lessons, feeds horses, trains instructors, fundraises, and serves as the public face of an organization that changes lives. She also runs two small businesses, an embroidery shop and a photography business, while remaining a devoted daughter, sister, and partner.
