20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Denyse Mackey of Albany
Denyse Mackey is a woman who understands, perhaps more deeply than most, that love does not end with loss, it transforms. In 2021, following the passing of her beloved husband Warren A. Mackey, a devoted father, mentor, and community leader whose life was defined by faith, service, and generosity, Denyse channeled her grief into something enduring. She founded the Warren and Denyse Mackey Foundation, an organization built on the belief that one family's loss can become an entire community's gain.
Under Denyse's leadership, the Foundation has grown into a meaningful force for good across multiple areas of community life. Each year, she organizes the Cardiac Kids event at the University at Albany, a uniquely uplifting experience in which children living with heart conditions are welcomed by the men's basketball team and coaching staff for an afternoon of connection and celebration culminating in a heartfelt donation to the American Heart Association. The event reflects the Foundation's spirit perfectly: turning vulnerability into strength, and hardship into joy.
The Foundation also prioritizes women's health by actively incentivizing annual mammograms, encouraging early detection and empowering women to take charge of their well-being. Additionally, Denyse champions youth development through a scholarship program that provides children with access to camps and sports organizations at no cost removing financial barriers and opening doors that might otherwise remain closed.
In everything she does, Denyse Mackey demonstrates that purpose can rise from the deepest pain. She has taken a chapter of profound personal sorrow and written it into a legacy of healing, hope, and community strength a legacy worthy of her husband's memory and a reflection of her own remarkable character.
