20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Ashley Hart of East Greenbush
Ashley Hart's life's work was born from unimaginable loss. In 2012, Ashley experienced the devastating tragedy of losing her sister to domestic violence, a brutal act that not only took a beloved life but also left Ashley herself a survivor of abuse. Rather than be defined by that trauma, Ashley chose to transform her pain into purpose, and in doing so, became a powerful force for change in her community.
Driven by a resolve to break the silence surrounding domestic violence, Ashley founded 2 Harts One Soul Inc., an organization dedicated to raising awareness and supporting local domestic violence programs through advocacy and donation-focused events. From assembling care packages filled with essential personal items, to making face masks for victims during the pandemic, to courageously sharing her sister's story at events throughout Rensselaer County, Ashley has consistently shown up, heart first, for those suffering in silence.
Her impact did not go unnoticed. In 2021, Ashley received the Outstanding Volunteer Award from Unity House in recognition of her exceptional service, advocacy, and action. In 2023, she joined Unity House as Prevention Program Director, where she oversees critical programs addressing human trafficking, gun violence, family violence, and youth outreach.
At the core of everything Ashley does is a mission to dismantle the stigma that keeps victims silent. She works tirelessly to eliminate shame, educate families and friends on recognizing the signs of abuse, and create the uncomfortable but necessary conversations that communities must have to protect their most vulnerable members.
Ashley Hart is a survivor, a founder, a leader, and an unwavering advocate. She honors her sister's memory every single day by ensuring that no one else has to suffer alone.
