Hannaford Supermarkets and B95.5 are partnering to identify and celebrate women in the Capital Region its the
20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
April Dreher of Ballston Spa
April Dreher is a woman who always puts her community and others before herself. She is a Deacon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and runs the Human Care Program for the church. April makes sure their shelves are properly stocked with food and opens the doors of the church to the food bank every Wednesday. She provides members of the community with nourishment, compassion, and most of all, love. She creates an environment that is judgment-free and makes everyone feel welcome. April has been serving her community for well over 20 years.
I am nominating her now because she has struggled with health issues the last few years, and she has never let anything hold her back or keep her from making sure the community is provided for. She has even checked in with her workers from a Saratoga hospital bed to make sure that the people in our community who needed food would still be served.
In 2018, April was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. It was managed with medication (which wasn’t always easy on her), and she went into remission. We recently found out she’s no longer in remission, and she will be starting a new regimen of medication soon with her doctors at New York Oncology & Hematology. Her spirits are still so uplifting. Serving her church and feeding the community still remain her top priorities.
On a personal note, April is also a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her devotion to her family has been an inspiration to me as a parent myself. There is nothing she loves more than giving hugs, sharing joy, and making her friends and her family feel loved. In today’s world, that is what we all really need.
