What started as a beautiful Tuesday ended in despair, confusion and hope. A total of four commercial airliners were hijacked by terrorists. Two were flown directly into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Another slammed into the Pentagon. A fourth plane was thwarted from its target after passengers fought back against the hijackers. That flight crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
In the Capital Region, we watched in disbelief at the chaos unfolding just 150 miles south of us. NewsChannel 13 put together a retrospective of reaction from around the Capital Region on that day.
