Flying to and from the New York State Capital and the nation’s Capital is about to get a lot easier. Albany International Airport announced that Southwest Airlines will begin offering daily direct flights to and from Ronald Reagan International Airport in Washington DC beginning July 11th.

Airport spokesman Doug Myers says the additional flights are coming just in time, as the airport prepares for a busy summer.

The decision by Southwest to expand Albany service is a strong indication of the airline’s confidence in the continued recovery of Albany air travel and is most welcomed as the Airport prepares for its busiest travel period since the beginning of the pandemic.

Flights will depart Albany at 2:55pm and arrive in Washington DC at 4:40pm. Meanwhile, flights DC will take off at 12:35pm, arriving in Albany at 1:55pm.

Southwest is the largest carrier operating out of the Albany Airport with more than 600,000 passengers in 2022.
