The long anticipated opening of the Capital Region’s first Chick-fil-A (that isn’t behind TSA security lines) is going to take a longer than first thought. According to the Times Union, the Clifton Park Chick-fil-A was hoping to be up and running by May 1st, but the town’s Planning Director, John Scavo, says the restaurant still needs to get its certificate of occupancy, then conduct employee training.
In a statement, Chick-fil-A confirmed that Clifton Park will not open on May 1st. They also said there are delays in opening the restaurant planned for North Greenbush:
While we have not confirmed opening dates for Chick-fil-A Clifton Park Center and Chick-fil-A North Greenbush, we hope to open our doors to the community later this summer
That also leaves the question of the status for the planned Latham location as well. A permit was submitted to open a Chick-fil-A along route 7 at the former Brick House Tavern & Tap, but apparently that is still in the paperwork stages.
However, if you do want some Chick-fil-A and don’t mind taking a drive, plans are on schedule for the restaurant to open in Ulster County at the Plattekill Service Area between Exits 18 and 17 of the Thruway. May 1st is the target date there.
Of course, you can always buy a plane ticket and go through the TSA checkpoint at Albany Airport.
