Update 5:51pm: Police say the suspect is in one room and they are trying to negotiate a peaceful resolution. Staff and patients are allowed to enter the hospital, but only through one specific entrance.

Albany Medical Center has been placed on lockdown after reports of a person with a handgun was inside the hospital. According officials with the Albany Police Department, the Albany Medical Center has been placed under lockdown as they investigate the reports of a weapon.
Steve Smith with the Albany Police Department posted that a person may have been in possession of a handgun.
Albany Medical Center confirmed that all patients and staff are safe as the investigation is ongoing. With NewsChannel13 providing updates live on scene through their YouTube channel
