20 Outstanding Women!
Todays Outstanding Woman is Marie Thorne from Ballston Spa!
Marie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013. Instead of letting it defeat her, she decided to use it to help others. She is the support group leader for the Saratoga County Parkinson’s Support Group. She is also a part of the Deep Brain Stimulation Support Group and the Women’s Support Group. For over 9 years, she has written a monthly newsletter for Parkinson’s. She also teaches brain training for those affected by the disease, as well as stroke and cancer patients. She remains incredibly active with kayaking, triking, and more outdoor activities and helps others with the disease do the same. She started the Medical Misfits group of women who support each other through these outdoor activities. She pays it forward every day, and we are honored to call her one of Hannaford Supermarket’s 20 Outstanding Women!
Thank you to all the Outstanding Women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live! The unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – those women who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.
Each Outstanding Woman will be highlighted at on B95.5 with her own day of recognition, and will be invited to an exclusive celebration with all The 20 Outstanding Women!
