Back in 2021 movie scenes were being filmed around the Capital Region and especially Saratoga for an independent film called ‘Paint’, which stars Owen Wilson. He was spotted many times in the Spa City last April. Even CBS 6’s Liz Bishop was woken up when a movie scene was being filmed outside her house.

By the looks of Wilson, it can be assumed it is about the famous PBS painter Bob Ross. That’s kind of true. Movieweb.com says Ross was clearly the inspiration. IFC Films explains it this way:
Owen Wilson stars as Carl Nargle, Vermont’s #1 public TV painter who is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke… until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.
‘Paint’, which also stars Wendi McLendon-Covey and Stephen Root is scheduled to be released to theaters on April 7th.
