Popular Capital Region Burrito Restaurant Closing

Say it isn’t so! One of the areas most beloved hot spots for overstuffed giant burritos will be closing after Sunday. The Times Union reports that Bomber’s Burrito Bar in Schenectady will be shutting down operations.

In a letter to employees, owner Jimmy Vann says operating costs are just too high to continue:

The past few years have been extremely difficult and we tried all that we could to keep our doors open, but ultimately we cannot do it any longer.

The letter also states that current employees will be getting a bonus in their final check:

As an expression of our appreciation, your last paycheck will reflect a bonus payment, which is intended to effectively pay you at your overtime rate for your straight time worked this week.

Bomber’s opened its Schenectady location in 2009. Original owner Matt Baumgartner turned the restaurant over to Vann back in 2017. Their Lark Street restaurant in Albany remains open.
